, ºÚÁÏÍø Director of Sustainability John Pumilio and Assistant Director of Sustainability and Environmental Studies Program Coordinator Pamela Gramlich talk about biomass as the primary heat source for the University and how burning locally sourced wood chips helped reduce ºÚÁÏÍø’s carbon footprint on its pathway to carbon neutrality in 2019.
Pumilio became the University’s first director of sustainability in 2009. Since that time, ºÚÁÏÍø has implemented numerous sustainability programs, reducing the University’s ecological and carbon footprints. Pumilio holds degrees from SUNY ESF at Syracuse University and The Evergreen State College in Washington State, with professional experience that includes work for organizations such as the National Park Service, National Audubon Society, and Tauck World Discovery.
Pamela Gramlich became the program coordinator for sustainability and environmental studies in July of 2016. Prior to her work at ºÚÁÏÍø, Gramlich studied at Penn State University, where she achieved her bachelor's degree in advertising and public relations, with minors in sociology and sustainability leadership.
