With a 6K time of 19:17, ºÚÁÏÍø’s Elise DeRoo ’12 has unquestionable talent on the cross country course. Equally impressive, however, is the molecular biology major’s 3.90 GPA. This formidable combination of brains and speed earned her the Patriot League’s 2010 Female Scholar-Athlete Award.

ºÚÁÏÍø has always had a strong sense of place. On ºÚÁÏÍø Day, August 13, the university reaffirmed its longstanding ties to the Central New York region by completing a $5.4 million endowment for the Upstate Institute thanks to the generosity of Jean-Pierre Conte ’85 and Board of Trustees Chair Chris Clifford ’67.

A collaborative student-organized event featuring good food and good football resulted in $700 being donated to a not-for-profit organization that assists children and families who have been affected by cancer.

Even politics-as-usual requires analysis and explanation. ºÚÁÏÍø community members heard the historical perspective on the 2010 elections and current U.S. political climate from FOX News contributor and Washington Examiner columnist Michael Barone during a lecture and debate Wednesday night.

Once again, ºÚÁÏÍø is No. 1. The university recorded a 100 percent graduation success rate for its student-athletes, according to a report released Wednesday by the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

The New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium, of which ºÚÁÏÍø is a member, has received a $600,000 grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to support collaborative programs in the areas of library collections, information technology, faculty and student development, and diversity.

This week was filled with excitement! On Tuesday, the Chinese Interest Association brought the Golden Dragon Acrobats to perform at the Chapel. The event was unbelievable, the stunts were Herculean, and the show was spectacularly executed.
