In her resignation letter, Siddiq maintained she had "acted with full transparency" but stepped down to prevent becoming a "distraction" for the government.
Now, for a point that might spark some debate: The court cases against Sheikh Hasina and her family members were initiated only after her removal as Bangladesh's leader. Hasina, who had led the country for 15 years, fled to India in August 2024 amid widespread public unrest. Last year, she even received a death sentence for crimes against humanity, stemming from a crackdown on student protests. Hasina herself has labeled her trial as "biased and politically motivated."
