Facing ongoing challenges, the Binduri Township in the Upper East Region is once again under a curfew. But what does this mean for its residents?
On the advice of the National Security Council, the Minister for the Interior has declared a renewed curfew for Binduri Township and its surrounding areas. This measure, implemented via Executive Instrument, will be in effect from 5:00 pm to 6:00 am, starting Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
The government is appealing to the community – including chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, and the youth – to remain calm amidst the current difficulties. They are encouraged to pursue peaceful methods to address their concerns and work towards establishing stability in the region.
And this is the part most people miss... There's a comprehensive prohibition in place. This means that within Binduri Township and its environs, no one is permitted to carry arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons. Furthermore, there's a ban on the movement of motorbikes and a restriction on individuals wearing smocks. Anyone found violating these regulations will face arrest and prosecution.
Signed,
MUNTAKA MOHAMMED-MUBARAK (MP)
MINISTER FOR THE INTERIOR
Issued on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
