"Ellie would have supported my decision to go sober. We were both party animals, but I think she'd be proud of me for making this change," Hannah said.
Strengthening Roots, Building a Legacy
The events of the past year have deepened Hannah's connection to her hometown, Dundee. She believes the city played a crucial role in her early career, and now, she's giving back.
Hannah has opened a new community music studio, doof Studios, in collaboration with Street Soccer's Change Centre and social enterprise Turn The Tables. The studio offers access to DJ and production equipment, free workshops, and low-cost private hire, removing barriers for young people interested in electronic music.
"Music equipment is expensive, and not everyone has access. I want to provide a space where people can find routine, confidence, and a creative outlet, especially those struggling with their mental health," Hannah explained.
A Tribute to Ellie
Hannah believes Ellie would be proud not only of the new studio but also of the track they released in her memory, "Have You Ever Loved (Ellie)." The song, named BBC Radio 1's Hottest Record last month, holds a special place in Hannah's heart.
"The vocal immediately reminded me of Ellie. Working on the track became a way to channel my grief. Ellie had main character energy - loyal, kind, and the life of every room. She'd be buzzing to have all this attention," Hannah shared.
A Journey of Growth and Gratitude
Hannah's journey over the past year has been one of transformation. From the heartbreak of loss to the courage of sobriety and the joy of giving back, she's shown incredible strength and resilience.
"I feel fortunate to be able to give something back to my hometown. Ellie's memory inspires me to keep going, and I know she'd be proud of the impact we're making," Hannah concluded.
