Goals for Good, a charitable organization founded by student-athlete Kevin McNamara ’12, raised $22,000 in its first year of operation.
The charitable endeavor involved all 12 men’s and women’s Division I hockey programs in the ECAC; every program received pledges from fans based on goals scored or games won through , a website designed and promoted by McNamara.
won the “competition” among the schools, raising $15,354 for the Brendan Borek High Tides Memorial Fund. Harvard came in second place, raising $1,777 for the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, and Yale rounded out the top three with $1,005 pledged to the Mandi Schwartz Foundation.
In all, 12 different charities benefited from the program started by McNamara, a senior captain on the men’s hockey team.
“It was unbelievable to watch this project grow over the course of the season,” he said. “Everyone around the league is extremely busy during the season, and it meant a lot to see so many people get involved.”
