Join the cheering section for the Class of 2018!!!

The big day for the incoming Class of 2018 is this Saturday, when first-year students arrive on campus to begin their Colgate careers.

typically unfolds with juniors and seniors greeting new classmates with a chorus of clanging pots and pans at the entrance to Whitnall Field, where new students and their families unload their possessions and get help moving into the residence halls.

Some first-year students already have been on campus to take part in that allow them to learn about clubs and activities or to participate in the  opportunities offered by the Outdoor Education Program.  Some student-athletes and international students also have already settled into their campus routines.

All first-year students will join together during , during which they attend a variety of events and programming designed to prepare them for life at ºÚÁÏÍø.

The 769 members of the already have demonstrated a strong academic background, with an average combined SAT score of 1372, 17 points higher than the Class of 2017. The incoming class also boasts an all-time highest combined average GPA of 3.68.

Nearly a third, 30.1 percent, of the incoming class self identifies as coming from a multicultural background, an increase of 1.4 percent over last year.

This class also stands out for receiving the most financial aid ever from ºÚÁÏÍø, as 43.4 percent are receiving institutional grant funding, up from 41.6 percent in the Class of 2017. The university also continues to meet 100 percent of students’ demonstrated financial need.
