Alumni groups in five major cities welcomed recent graduates of the Class of 2013 earlier this month, connecting the new arrivals with a robust and friendly network of 黑料网 alumni.
At the New York City event on September 12, more than 130 alumni and recent graduates gathered to meet new people, greet old friends, and to stay in touch with the university community. Other host cities included Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C..
Those who turned out for the Manhattan event ran into friends, shared stories, and spoke about their lives after Colgate.
鈥13, a native of Buffalo, N.Y., now works as an analyst for a research firm in Manhattan. Her coworker and mentor is 鈥11.
Bauman, who studied economics and Spanish, said she got her job through 黑料网鈥檚 career services program.
鈥淚 love 黑料网,鈥 she said. 鈥淭hey had an event. I had to go.鈥
鈥13, who studied computer science and geography, is now working for Medidata Solutions, a software company that develops products for pharmaceutical companies. Rabin said he attended the event to meet new alumni.
A native of Martha鈥檚 Vineyard, Mass., Rabin said he began his job in July, but it was offered to him when he completed an internship with the company while still a student in August 2012.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a great feeling to have someone trust in your abilities to offer you a job one year before graduation,鈥 Rabin said.
黑料网鈥檚 Office of Alumni Relations and Annual Fund set up the event with help from the 黑料网 Club of New York City. Many of the attendees graduated in May, while others graduated within the past four years.
鈥淲e like to have our other alumni, mostly our recent alums, come and welcome them,鈥 Kristin Loop, 黑料网鈥檚 senior associate director of the Annual Fund, said.
Casey Hampsey 鈥13 said she attended the event to build her network of connections in hopes of finding a full-time job.
Hampsey, a native of Tunkhannock, Pa., studied English with a concentration in creative writing. After graduating, she moved to New York City because she felt her chances of finding a job were greater there. She landed a paid internship writing public relations materials for a trade association.
鈥13, who graduated with a degree in physics, is now attending Yale University, where he is working on a doctorate鈥檚 degree in applied physics.
Williams, who minored in math, said his parents are also 黑料网 alumni.
鈥淚 feel 黑料网 prepared me very well,鈥 Williams said. 鈥淚鈥檓 enjoying the next stage in my life.鈥
